Professional Government Supervisor Pathways (PGSP)

Configured supervisor course for agencies that need consistency, accountability, and faster readiness.

How PGSP Works

PGSPs are configurable, group-based supervisory pathways that combine proven leadership modules into a focused course aligned to agency priorities. Agencies select half-day modules across OPM’s Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs), creating a focused course aligned to the competencies needed to build a results-driven culture.

Select Focus Areas

Agencies choose the leadership competencies most critical for their supervisors, based on OPM’s ECQs:

  • ECQ 1: Rule of Law and Principles
  • ECQ 2: Driving Efficiency
  • ECQ 3: Merit and Competence
  • ECQ 4: Leading People
  • ECQ 5: Achieving Results

Configure the Pathway

Select and sequence half-day modules into a supervisory course designed to build shared expectations, practical skills, and on-the-job performance.

Deliver to Your Group

Pathways are delivered as private group training (PGT), virtual or in person, designed to support immediate application on the job.

Where PGSP Fits (and When to Consider Other Options)

PGSP is the Right Choice When

  • Multiple supervisors need consistent practices and common language
  • You want faster deployment with some flexibility, not full customization
  • The goal is supervisory readiness, not leadership transition

You May Consider Other Options When

This course is excellent for new and intermediate supervisors and even a great refresher for experienced managers.

I can apply what I learned immediately, and the topics covered are valuable for managers at any level.

As a new supervisor, all of the material was very useful and immediately applicable to my role.

The entire class helped me understand how to interact with employees, keep them engaged, and evaluate performance effectively.

I really appreciate having practical tools and frameworks, not just theory, to prepare for giving feedback and managing performance.

Extend Learning On the Job

The Supervisor’s Playbook can be paired with PGSPs to reinforce learning, support accountability, and accelerate on-the-job skill application.
